Replacement of EXTEL WAVE 2 monitor speaker – In progress

You can no longer hear your monitor ring. Your monitor's loudspeaker seems to be failing. Before carrying out any work or maintenance, please switch off all components of your video door entry system and stand on a suitable surface to avoid scratching the screen.

Materials needed:

Phillips screwdriver, plastic spatula, precision pliers

Tutorial steps:

Step 1: Remove the rear bracket

  • Turn the monitor over.
  • Remove the micro SD card from the Monitor.
  • Using a Phillips screwdriver, unscrew the 6 retaining screws.
  • Insert the plastic spatula into the lower part of the monitor and lever slightly.
  • Gently lift the back of the monitor
  • Be careful not to bend the contact springs on the touch-sensitive buttons.

Step 2: Disconnecting the microphone

  • Using the precision pliers, disconnect the microphone by gently pulling the white connector. Be careful not to pull on the wires, which could tear off.

Step 3: Disconnecting the video stream

  • Using the precision pliers, remove the insulation tape from the video ribbon.
  • Lever up to remove the front panel.
  • Set the ON/OFF slider to OFF.
  • Remove the battery by pulling it downwards.

Step 2: Remove the back panel

  • Turn the intercom panel over and, using a Phillips-head screwdriver, remove the 6 screws at the rear of the intercom panel.

Step 3: Dismantling the circuit board

  • Carefully disconnect the microphone connector by pulling it upwards with precision pliers. Be careful not to pull on the wires.
  • Unscrew the 4 screws holding the intercom panel to gain access to the bottom connectors.
  • Use the plastic spatula to gently lift your PCB out of its housing.
  • 1- Carefully disconnect the speaker connector
  • 2- Carefully disconnect the connector from the call button
  • 3- Carefully disconnect the infrared LED connector
  • Tilt the circuit board to the left so that it doesn’t interfere with the rest of the operation.

Step 4: Speaker replacement

  • Gently peel off the protective sheet using the plastic spatula.
  • WARNING: do not damage or bend it, as you will need to reinstall it later.
  • Unscrew white pressure plate with Phillips screwdriver
  • Then remove it using the plastic spatula.
  • Using the plastic spatula, lever the edge of the speaker to loosen it.
  • Remove speaker
  • Make sure the speaker is identical to the original.
  • Using B7000 glue, apply a thin strip of glue to the edges of the micro housing.
  • Glue the loudspeaker back together in the same direction as when disassembling, applying gentle pressure.
  • Wait 5 minutes.
  • Route the speaker wire under the battery gasket.
  • Reposition and screw on the pressure plate.
  • Reposition and reattach the protective sheet.

Step 5: Reassembling the circuit board

  • Temporarily reposition the circuit board on the chassis.
  • Ensure that the battery connector seal is correctly positioned
  • First, reconnect the lower connections:
  • 1- Speaker
  • 2- Call button
  • 3- Infrared LEDs

 

  • Make sure the antenna wire is positioned on the left side of the chassis and reinstall the circuit board.
  • To aid positioning, guide holes are provided on the circuit board.
  • Make sure the ON/OFF switch on intercom panel is easily accessible.
  • Make sure the antenna wire is always correctly positioned and not twisted or pinched.
  • Tighten the 4 screws holding the circuit board in place, using a Phillips screwdriver.
  • Reconnect the microphone.

Step 6: Reassembling the door station

  • Turn the intercom panel over and, using the Phillips screwdriver, screw back the 6 screws at the rear of the intercom panel.
  • Reconnect the battery. Pay attention to the direction of insertion.
  • Switch to ON position.
  • Don’t forget to reassociate the monitor and intercom panel.
  • Test short-range operation before final reinstallation.
